The Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk is promoting the Queen’s Green Canopy project, which aims to see as many people as possible planting a tree for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee to leave a lasting legacy from the milestone occasion.

Various organisations have free trees available for this initiative and the Parish Council has also pledged to purchase some fruit trees to distribute to residents. All trees will then be registered on a map of the UK and presented to the Queen.

The tress will need planting during their dormant season in winter and residents will be responsible for planting and maintaining their own trees. The Parish Council also aims to plant commemorative pear trees on all 3 Village Greens and in the centre of the village. The tree on the edge of Church Meadow will be planted during the Platinum Jubilee weekend and there are plans to turn this into a village event- more on this closer to the time.
