The Mills Charity have asked us to pass the following information on:-

We have a vacancy at The Mills Charity’s 300-year-old Almshouses in Station Road, Framlingham.

The Mills Charity provides almshouses for people (of any age) who are in need, hardship or distress and who have a strong connection with Framlingham or an adjacent village1. Such a link might be their own or a close family member’s present residence, a child attending a local school, or a current or recent past employment link.

The almshouses in Station Road have only one bedroom and are therefore suitable only for single persons or couples.  Residents occupy houses under licence as beneficiaries of The Mills Charity, so there is no landlord/tenant relationship established between the licensee and The Mills Charity.  A monthly sum is payable in advance as a maintenance contribution and not as rent.

All residents must be able to care for themselves, both sustaining and maintaining an independent lifestyle.  There is a warden nearby to superintend and support, but the Mills Charity does not provide, nor is it authorised to provide, any form of nursing or care.  If residential or nursing care becomes necessary at some time in the future, the resident may be asked to find more suitable accommodation.  There is no parking for vehicles except on nearby public roads.

Application forms are available only from the Clerk to the Trustees. For a form, please e-mail your full name, address and phone numbers to themillscharity@btconnect.com; or write to the PO Box address below; or telephone 01728 685031 (where you may have to leave a message).

Completed application forms must be returned by post to The Mills Charity, PO Box 1703, Framlingham, Woodbridge IP13 9WW, to arrive before 5 p.m. on Tuesday 24 October 2017. Late applications will not be considered. Viewing is not possible until after the shortlisting of applicants, all of whom will receive a response.
